flyoverlandscapes the stream of 37 landscapes below comes from a three-month drive around america's overlooked backyard: flyover land. in the summer of 2006 i lived in a 1973 volkswagen friend christened Boiohaemum. we rode radio off, windows down, engine grumbling through hurricane-ravaged lowlands, over timeless rockies, across prairies, through scorched forest and green, under storms and sunshine and, at times, veiled by night. 11,500 miles. i kept a blog and wrote poems and essays, ate ramen noodles and pbj sandwiches, and slept in boio. the list of high places and genuine faces overflows my memory. below is a fragment captured with a pocket camera.
