and love of passing hours on hours amid the coffeehouse culture that pervades saint louis--and, of course, many other american cities situated north of the mason-dixon heat wave. i suppose nothing will replace the famed salons of paris as technology has thrust us into the salons of solitude enabled by virtual communities. but in today's modern thrust of art and idea and business exchanges, is the coffeehouse just maybe the next best thing? i'll explore this hypothesis over time.
